Temasek Review website to shut down after July

The Temasek Review (TR) has announced that it will cease operations after July this year.

TR editor Amanda Tan broke the news to an online portal today.

It cited reasons such as uncertainty over funding - the site is supported only through donations.

The editorial team running the website said that the increased readership would eventually require better hardware support, and the team would no longer be able to afford this.

Ms Tan also said that the team wanted to spend more time with their families.

There were no external forces pressuring the shutdown, she added.

The socio-political website is known for its critical commentary on the People's Action Party.

In October last year, TR made headlines when Temasek Holdings sent a letter to the website founder, Joseph Ong, requesting for the site to change its name because it was capitalising on the goodwill and reputation of Temasek Holdings' own publication 'Temasek Review'.
