6 bandits beaten to death

BANGLADESH - A mob beat six robbers to death last night after they tried to commit a robbery near Chhatirchar Bazar at Sripur in Gazipur.

Police arrested four other members of the gang and recovered a gun, three bullets, six machetes and four knives at the scene.

A gang of 12 robbers went to Shishu Palli road near Chhatirchar Bazar by a microbus for committing robbery at about 9:00pm, said Nazmul Haque Bhuiyan, officer-in-charge of Sripur Police Station.

They fired a shot at trader Abul in an attempt to commit robbery, he said.

When the trader cried for help, locals rushed to the spot. They caught ten of the robbers and beat them up.

Arrested Shamim, Anwar Hossain, Aziz and Sohel are from Gafargaon, Bhaluka and Sripur areas.

Police seized the microbus.

The deceased were yet to be identified.
