Legislator watching porn during House hearing

The Indonesian Commission for Child Protection (KPAI) wants the National Police to investigate allegations that a Prosperous Justice Party legislator was watching pornography during a House hearing.

KPAI deputy chairman Asrorun Niam Sholeh said that a legal approach was needed to create a deterrent to protect Indonesian children from pornography.

"We should impose stern sanctions and punishments since such an act is a crime. We should not give the impression that we tolerate pornography," Asrorun said in a statement quoted by tempointeraktif.com on Saturday.

The legislator, Arifinto, confirmed that he had been caught on camera during the hearing on Friday.

"Yes, it was me. I received an email, and there was a link, but it turned out to be one of those movies," he said.

PKS legislator Nasir Djamil said that the alleged infraction should be investigated by the House Ethics Council (BK).

"There are binding ethics, especially if it is during a plenary meeting," he said.
