Winners of Singapore Blog Awards 2011 revealed

Singapore, 22 July 2011 - A history fanatic, a localised ang moh expat and a Singaporean living in South Africa may seem strange bedfellows, but these individuals were amongst the winners at this year's Singapore Blog Awards (http://sgblogawards.omy.sg).

Jerome Lim, a nature and history lover, clinched the Best Photography Blog award; banking executive and active grassroots volunteer Peter Breitkreutz won the Best What-The-Hell Blog; and Karen Lim, a Singaporean who lived in New Zealand and South Africa as an expatriate's wife, came in first in the Get Your Sexy Back Best Lifestyle Blog category.

They joined eight other winners in their respective categories at the Singapore Blog Awards 2011. The event was held at Shanghai Dolly in Clark Quay on 23 July. Organised by omy.sg, the bilingual news and interactive web portal of Singapore Press Holdings (SPH), the Awards honoured "new-age wordsmiths" who devoted their time and energy to creating and maintaining informative and innovative blogs.

The ten winning bloggers received their prizes from Guest of Honour, Major-General (NS) Chan Chun Sing, Acting Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports and Minister of State, Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts.

They earned for themselves a trip to Melbourne, Australia, with air tickets and accommodation paid for by the Tourism Victoria and Jetstar, in addition to a trophy specially designed by Cultural Medallion winning artist Mr Tan Swie Hian.

The winners were determined via public voting, as well as scores given by a panel of 13 professional judges. Over a period of three months, more than 1000 blogs registered for the Awards and over 70,000 votes were cast to vote for the finalists.
