Oprah eyed for Senate

SHAMED Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich said on an American talkshow that he had considered appointing Oprah Winfrey to the US Senate seat left vacant by President Barack Obama.

But he said that appointing her might have been perceived as a gimmick - and that she probably would not have accepted it anyway.

Oprah said: "If I had been watching as I normally do, from the treadmill, I would probably have fallen off the treadmill."
