Give your views on how to improve animal-welfare laws

The Animal Welfare Legislation Review Committee (AWLRC) yesterday launched an e-consultation to seek views from the public on strengthening Singapore's animal-welfare legislation.

It was launched on the Government's feedback portal, Reach, and will continue until Oct 5.

The AWLRC - chaired by Mr Yeo Guat Kwang, a Member of Parliament (MP) for Ang Mo Kio GRC - was set up to review the legislation on animal welfare and make recommendations to the Government to strengthen animal-welfare legislation.

It will also recommend ways to enhance stakeholders' collaboration on animal welfare.

Members of the AWLRC include MPs, representatives of animal-welfare groups as well as the general manager of a town council.

As part of the review, the AWLRC has initiated a consultation process, holding six consultation sessions from May to July to seek the views of over 170 participants, including grassroots leaders, veterinarians, animal-welfare groups and activists.
