Woman spends $5,000 to tune out neighbour's piano

SINGAPORE - Fed up with her neighbour's piano playing, a woman is shelling out $5,000 for noise-nullifying boards.

A Toa Payoh resident known only as Madam Huang, 37, told Chinese daily Lianhe Wanbao that she decided on the measures because of the neighbour's incessant piano playing.

Madam Huang moved into the three-room flat eight months ago with her family.

The housewife claimed that come weekends and public holidays, the neighbour would play the piano from 8am to 10pm.

On weekdays, she would practice for two hours daily, she told the newspaper.

The problem has become so bad that Madam Huang claims she even hears the instrument in her imagination.

"Now when she plays, I turn on the radio to tune her out," she said.
