500 SAF personnel deployed to Afghanistan since 2007

Singapore Armed Forces's (SAF) Chief of Army Major-General (MG) Ravinder Singh calling on Commander International Security Assistance Force (Isaf) General Joseph Dunford in Kabul, Afghanistan. The SAF concluded its deployment there during a ceremony at the Multinational Base Tarin Kowt in the province Oruzgan on 22 June 2013.

SINGAPORE - With the Afghanistan National Security Forces in the final stages of taking over full security responsibilities for their country, the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) concluded its deployment there in a ceremony last Saturday at the Multinational Base Tarin Kowt located in Oruzgan.

It was attended by Chief of Army, Major-General Ravinder Singh, Commander of the Australian forces in the Middle East, Major-General Michael Peter Crane, and Commander, Regional Command South, Major-General Robert B. Abrams.

The SAF has deployed close to 500 personnel to Afghanistan since May 2007 as part of the International Security Assistance Force.
