Feng wins STTA's top award

NATIONAL paddler Feng Tianwei was yesterday crowned the inaugural winner of the Singapore Table Tennis Association's (STTA) Best Player of the Year award.

The accolade capped a fantastic 2009 for the world No. 6, who took on the role of Singapore's No. 1 in the absence of veteran Li Jiawei.

The Straits Times Athlete of the Year award nominee had led the women's team to second-place finishes at the World Team Cup and Asian Table Tennis Championships. She won her second singles Pro Tour title at the Korean Open in August and reached a career-high world No. 5 in November.
