Bangladesh wakes up to tremors

It was a surprise wake up call for people across Bangladesh in the dawn today when a 6.8 magnitude earthquake jolted Dhaka and other parts of the country.

According to US Geological Survey, the epicentre was northwest of Imphal in India, near the Myanmar border.

The USGS said the quake was 57 kms (35 miles) deep, and initially reported it had struck inside Myanmar.
