HIS Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, the Minister of Defence and Supreme Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), yesterday bestowed a title on Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces General TNI Gatot Nurmantyo.
During the ceremony at Istana Nurul Iman, the monarch conferred on Gatot the title of "The Most Exalted Order of Paduka Keberanian Laila Terbilang Yang Amat Gemilang Darjah Pertama (D.P.K.T), which brings the title "Dato Paduka Seri".
Gatot told The Brunei Times he was proud to have received the title from His Majesty.
"This is not just a personal appreciation, but it is also a valuable note for Indonesia, the TNI and all of its members," he said.
Also present were Deputy Minister of Defence Dato Paduka Hj Mustappa Hj Sirat; RBAF Commander Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih Abdullah; and Indonesian Ambassador to Brunei Nurul Qomar.
Also in attendance were Indonesian National Armed Forces Assistant Commander of Intelligence Major General TNI (MAR) Achmad Faridz Washington and Operations Assistant Commander Major General TNI Fransen G Siahaan; Permanent Secretary at Brunei's Prime Minister's Office Dato Paduka Hj Hamdan Hj Abu Bakar and Ministry of Defence Permanent Secretary Datin Paduka Hjh Suriyah Hj Umar.
At another part of the Istana, Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha received in a separate audience, Datin Sri Enny Trimurti, the wife of the Indonesian National Armed Forces Commander.
Also present at the audience was the RBAF Deputy Commander's wife Datin Sakdiah Hj Mohamad Noor.
