Bus and rail tickets out of JB almost sold out

JOHOR BARU - With Hari Raya fast approaching, tickets for buses, trains, and even flights to popular destinations from here are almost fully sold.

Checks by The Star at the Larkin Bus Terminal here found that tickets for northern and east coast states are the most sought after.

StarMart Ekspress Sdn Bhd ticket sales representative Haliza Norman said these tickets were going like hot cakes as expected.

"We still have tickets to Kedah and Penang, where the buses will leave on Hari Raya's eve, but we expect it to be taken up within the next few days," she said.

Transnasional Johor Baru's ticketing agent, who wanted to be known only as Khatijah, said tickets for east coast routes had been sold out a month prior to the start of Ramadan.

"However, there are still seats available for journeys to the Klang Valley," she said.

Train tickets to Kelantan between July 18 and July 27 have all been sold out.

KTMB senior marketing manager Mohd Noordin Kimi added that all seats from Singapore to northern destinations between July 25 and July 27 have also been taken.

"KTM is looking to increase the number of coaches for these journeys, and we will sell the extra tickets starting this Friday," he said.

Meanwhile, Johor Firefly sales manager Khairul Anuar Daud said the airline would have 22 extra flights to destinations such as Langkawi, Penang, and Kota Baru from July 25 to July 31.

"Tickets to such destinations are almost sold out, and Firefly also expects seats of the extra flights to be taken up quickly," he said.
