Caught on video: Child flung out of car in China as driver makes sharp turn

A child has miraculously survived after being flung out of a moving car in Chengdu, China.

A video of the shocking incident was uploaded by CCTVNews on its Facebook page on Wednesday (Jan 6) night. In the video, a white car is seen making a sharp left turn on a dark street.

Just as the car makes the turn, the door on the passenger's side swings open and a child can be seen being thrown out onto the road. The car then quickly comes to a halt.

Almost immediately, the child stands up seemingly unhurt and hurriedly runs back to the front passenger seat of the car.

A woman dressed in a red coat then comes out of the vehicle to check on the child.

According to CCTVNews, members of the public have raised serious concerns about child safety on China's roads after the story was reported.

The World Health Organisation estimates that up to 10,000 children in China die in road accidents every year, and a large cause of this is the unpopularity of child safety seats in the country.

In September last year, Chinese authorities implemented compulsory product certification for child safety seat products. Safety seat products which do not meet safety standards are barred from production, sale, import or use in business activities.
