Delhi beckons

Delhi takes on a different hue in winter. The city's massive road roundabouts are a sight to behold with beds of colourful flowers sprouting from every one of them. Even road pavements are lined with flower beds.

There is another reason for cheer this winter. Singapore Airlines is adding a third daily flight to India's capital city. During the winter operating season (Oct 27-March 29), it will add a Boeing 777 to the existing two daily services, also operated by Boeing 777 aircraft.

With this additional flight, Singapore Airlines and SilkAir will operate a total of 107 weekly services to 11 destinations in India, namely Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Coimbatore, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi, Thiruvananthapuram and Visakhapatnam. Flight schedules can be found on singaporeair. com.

Singapore Airlines is one of the few airlines in the world to pay detailed attention to the food served on board. In 1998, the airline set up the International Culinary Panel, comprising award-winning chefs from the culinary capitals of the world. The panel works closely with the airline's own chefs, to specially create the unique selection that is available on board.

One of the chefs on the panel is master chef Sanjeev Kapoor of India. Chef, TV host, author of many best-selling cookbooks, restaurateur and winner of several culinary awards, his innovations in Indian cuisine have made him a household name in India and abroad. Singapore Airlines also takes great care in providing top quality inflight entertainment through KrisWorld - the most powerful and advanced inflight entertainment system in the world.

The inflight entertainment system from Panasonic Avionics Corporation offers more than 1,000 on-demand options. KrisWorld is available to all three classes and the extensive selection includes more movies, TV programmes, interactive games, audio CDs and hosted radio programming, as well as a variety of learning applications.

Other features include larger, 1280 x 768 high-resolution screens across all three classes, sleek and compact handsets with intuitive controls, external USB ports, as well as custom designed premium active noise cancellation headphones from Bose and Phitek for suites/first and business class customers respectively. KrisWorld also serves as a personal media player, photo-viewer or PDF reader.

While some airlines focus more on first and business class sections, Singapore Airlines makes sure the economy class is one of the best in the world. Its economy class has always captivated travellers around the world. In the 1970s, customers enjoyed many unique and value-added services that were previously unheard of, such as a choice of meals, free drinks and free headphones.

Through the use of innovative design and the newest materials, the economy class seat today offers customers more privacy, comfort and leg and knee room. That's more than one good reason to try out Singapore Airlines, the next time you fly to India or to any part of the world.
