Fairfield Marriott brings signature customer service to Bangalore

If you prize customer service more than luxurious frills, you might just like spending the night at the Marriott group's mid-range but respected business brand, Fairfield.

Business and leisure travellers looking for value for money in functional comforts and essentials in North America were so impressed with its guest services that it helped the brand garner recognition for best in service across all hotel categories there.

Riding on its achievements and guests' support, the chain set up its first Fairfield hotel in Asia - in Bangalore late last year. A rightful choice what with the burgeoning middle class in India and booming IT city, which also serves as a gateway to other tourist playgrounds like Goa.

The 7-storey Fairfield Marriott Bangalore is ensconced in Rajajinagar, a residential area in the west of the sprawling capital city of Karnataka.[[{"fid":"140456","view_mode":"default","type":"media","attributes":{"height":267,"width":410,"border":"0","class":"media-element file-default"},"link_text":null}]]

Equipped with high-speed Internet as one would expect of an IT city. it is one of the top hotels located near Bangalore International Exhibition Centre, Fortune 500 companies and Peenya Industrial Area.

Plonked next to a small mall, the hotel offers 148 rooms with hotel essentials like comfortable beds with down pillows, ergonomic chair at the work table, showers and flat-screen LED TV offering satellite and movie channels.

Although it was a room without indulgences like a bathtub, I was able to sleep like a baby, lulled by hypnotic Carnatic music from a local TV station.

Foodwise, the only restaurant Kava did a pretty good job of whipping up buffets of regional delights, ranging from curries and tandoori delights to briyanis. The samosas at a function were so delicious that we helped ourselves to them non-stop.

At the grand opening several months ago, chefs from its sister hotels like JW Marriott and Whitefield Marriott lent a hand to create a bountiful spread featuring the best of India's regional cuisines. Even the street-fare chaats were a hit with the guests.

After a tiring day exploring attractions such as the Lal Bagh Gardens and Tipu Palace, your tummy should be happy fill up with the generously spiced Hyderabad briyani, fried chilli-marinated Andhra Pradesh fish, smoky chicken tikkas and creamy Indian cottage cheese that tasted so fresh.[[{"fid":"140457","view_mode":"default","type":"media","attributes":{"height":267,"width":410,"border":"0","class":"media-element file-default"},"link_text":null}]]

Yeah, it's easy to put on weight here. Otherwise, waddle to the gym to walk off the calories on the treadmill. You can also take a dip in the pool when it's ready in April.

The lounge adjoining the restaurant serves as good spot for informal meetings or drinks with business clients.

The helpful staff at the lobby reception are a great boon for travel, shopping and dining arrangement and tips.
