Thai restaurant Nahm in Bangkok tops the list of Asia's 50 Best Restaurants this year, knocking Narisawa in Tokyo off its perch.

In a ceremony at Capella Singapore last night, Nahm chef David Thompson (third from left) was given a standing ovation by the 700 chefs, restaurateurs and media present. With him are (from left) sous chef Prin, chef Tanongsak and San Pellegrino's Mr Giorgio Mondovi. At No. 2 is Narisawa, followed by Gaggan, a Bangkok restaurant which serves Indian food with a modernist touch.

Restaurant Andre is the best restaurant in Singapore, at No. 6. Waku Ghin is No. 7 and Iggy's is No. 12. Other local restaurants on the list are Les Amis (14), Jaan (17), Tippling Club (23), Shinji by Kanesaka (35) and Imperial Treasure Super Peking Duck (40).
