Indonesia detainee escapes in a stolen prisoner van

A detainee reportedly escaped in a prisoner transport van in Depok, West Java, on Thursday.

Depok Police head Sr. Comr. Herry Heriawan said the incident occurred at 3:30 p.m.

"The detainee stole the car while prosecutors picked him up at the police hospital in Kramat Jati, East Jakarta," Herry said on Thursday as quoted by kompas.com.

The vehicle belonged to the Depok Prosecutor's Office.

Police have been on the hunt for the detainee since prosecutors reported the incident.

Herry said the detainee was reportedly seen in Cimanggis and Jl. Juanda, Depok.

The detainee hit vehicles on Jl. Juanda, Herry said.
