Indonesia: Ministry to build 200 vocational schools

Indonesian students at a vocational school for aviation engineering assembled a plane.

The Education and Culture Ministry is aiming to build 200 vocational schools this year.

Culture and Elementary and Secondary Education Minister Anies Baswedan said that the construction of the 200 schools would be designed to support other government programs in agriculture, infrastructure, tourism and maritime industry.

"From a meeting with [Vice President Jusuf Kalla], we have concluded to boost vocational schools in tourism since it is predicted the country's largest income in the next seven to 10 years will be from tourism," he said on Monday as quoted by okezone.com.

Anies said he has asked the Research and Technology and Higher Education Ministry to provide the schools with quality teachers
