Drug prisoner Shadat Tino, 23, has just passed the most important part of his life by marrying his girlfriend, Lidya, 23, at the Limo Police station in Depok, West Java.

The wedding was held on Saturday. Shadat has been detained at the police station since early this month after being found in possession of a kilogram of marijuana.

Limo Police chief Adj. Comr. Muhamad Iskandar said prisoners were allowed to marry due to humanitarian reasons.

"Based on the principle of humanity, and a request from the suspect's family, we allowed the couple to get married at the police station," Muhamad said on Monday according to kompas.com.

He added that the wedding was attended by the couple's family and friends.

"We hope that the suspect becomes a better person when he is released from prison," Muhamad said.
