KPK grills Banten governor's personal staffer

INDONESIA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Friday questioned Siti "Iim" Halimah, a personal staffer of Banten Governor Ratu Atut Chosiyah, for the second time in connection to the bribery case implicating Atut and former Constitutional Court chief justice Akil Mochtar.

The KPK questioned Siti for the first time on Feb. 7 after the KPK brought her in by force after she failed to answer several summons. Priharsa Nugraha, a KPK spokesman, said that Siti was questioned because the agency believed her to have a great deal of information regarding the crimes committed by Atut.

Atut and her brother, Tubagus "Wawan" Chaeri Wardhana, were accused of bribing Akil to fix the rulings of election disputes in Banten province and Lebak regency. The pair was also accused of rigging the tender for the Banten administration's medical equipment procurement project
