Soekarno-Hatta International Airport operator Angkasa Pura II has said that a hard landing recently experienced by a Malaysia Airlines aircraft was not caused by flooding at one of the airport's runway.
Two incidents occurred at the airport Tuesday evening.
A tire on a Malaysia Airlines aircraft burst upon landing on the airport's northern runway.
Later in the evening, the new terminal's apron and loading dock were inundated in 20 centimeters of water.
"News went viral that the incident involving the Malaysia Airlines aircraft was caused by flooding on the runway," said AP II spokesman Yado Yarismano.
"No, it was not."
Yado explained that airplane made a hard landing due to heavy rain, which possibly damaged the tire.
Moreover, he added, there was no flooding on the runways as they were well designed with suitable drainage.
