Man arrested for unzipping pants and making 'lewd gestures' on flight

A 56-year-old man was arrested at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International airport on Saturday evening for allegedly harassing a female passenger on an IndiGo flight from Hyderabad.

According to NDTV, the 44-year-old victim alleged that Ramesh Chand, who was seated next to her, was making "lewd gestures" towards her; she claimed she saw the man distastefully unzipping his pants and directing an obscene act at her.

The Hyderabad native immediately alerted a flight attendant and was given a separate seat, reported India Times.

"When the flight landed, [the police] received a complaint from the woman," a police officer said.

Chand was subsequently arrested and taken to the Domestic Airport police station.

As reported by Hindustan Times, Chand was charged for insulting the modesty of a woman and sexual harassment under the Indian Penal Code.
