BEIJING - A disgruntled mistress leaked photos of herself and her lover - a Henan Provincial People's Congress deputy - online, after he refused to pay child support for their daughter.
Ms Li Shanshan, who claims to be the mistress of Mr Luo Zhiyuan, posted the photos on her weibo account, Beijing News reported yesterday.
The photos show the two lying on a bed together - just prior to the opening of the National People's Congress.
Ms Li claimed that Mr Luo is also a top local entrepreneur and the chief executive officer of Henan Zhiyuan Food Group.
The unhappy mistress said Mr Luo had been having an affair with her and he had abandoned the daughter he had with her, reported the South China Morning Post. She claimed he had split up with her and refused to pay child support.
The couple had failed to reach an agreement after court proceedings and she decided to expose him online.
Ms Li had also published a screenshot of a mobile text message that appeared to be a warning from Mr Luo.
"I had to go through many connections to win my People's Congress deputy post. If it is ruined, you will know what to do!" the message said.
Mr Luo denied writing the text message, saying that it was Ms Li's way of attempting to blackmail him, reported Beijing News.
Ms Li also said that Mr Luo had illicitly used connections to obtain his congress post, the newspaper reported.
Staff at Henan Provincial People's Congress said they had started investigating the incident.
There have been increasing numbers of online posts exposing corruption and sex scandals involving officials since China's anti-corruption campaign was initiated when President Xi Jingping took office last year.
