North Korean stalls found selling US animated films: Report

American animated films have found an audience in North Korea, it seems.

In a report on July 9, South Korean news outlet Yonhap cited US-based Radio Free Asia (RFA) as stating that video stalls in the communist state have been found selling animated movies from the US.  

Popular titles found included "Cinderella", "Tangled", and "Beauty and the Beast", in addition to North Korean music and videos, said RFA.

According RFA, the Russian embassy has released photos of the products, indicating that "the idea of people in Pyongyang being completely closed from the outside world is false".

A post on July 3 by the Russian embassy on Facebook also stated that Indian movies appear to be gaining in popularity.

The embassy reportedly told RFA that each DVD is sold at 3,000 to 6,000 (S$4.60 to S$9.20) North Korean won.
