In addition to the blockbuster rematch between reigning ONE Middleweight World Champion Vitaly Bigdash and Myanmar hero the “Burmese Python” Aung La N Sang, ONE Championship has officially announced additional bouts for ONE: LIGHT OF A NATION. The event is set for 30 June, at the Thuwunna Indoor Stadium in Yangon, Myanmar.

The undefeated Bigdash (9-0) of Rostov-on-Don, Russia, looks to once again successfully defend his title against Aung La N Sang (19-10, 1 NC), this time in front of the Myanmar native’s hometown crowd. The pair are scheduled for a five-round middleweight main event, similar to their first encounter in early January, in which Bigdash prevailed via unanimous decision.

Making her way back to the ONE Championship cage is 26-year-old grappling wizard Jenny Huang (5-1), who was last seen in a tough bout against reigning ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion Angela Lee in Bangkok.

Huang was dominated by the Singaporean superstar, but looks to get right back on track in her upcoming bout against Japanese champion Mei “V.V” Yamaguchi (15-10-1).

Yamaguchi, who hails from Tokyo, is 34 years of age, and an incredibly experienced competitor, having faced the best female fighters in all of Asia. In 2016, Yamaguchi also took on Angela Lee, competing for the inaugural women’s title in a bout that later turned out to be a consensus Fight of the Year award recipient.

With both Huang and Yamaguchi entering the bout as well-rounded fighters looking for redemption, expect a tremendous high-level showdown between two exceptional female talents on the ONE Championship roster.

Brazilian jiu-jitsu No Gi world champion Bruno “Puccibull” Pucci (4-2) is also back and ready to regain his stride after a knockout loss in his most recent outing. Pucci, 26, came into ONE Championship as one of the top talents at featherweight. His grappling prowess is highly-regarded, and the four submissions on his record are proof of his finishing ability.

However, the young Brazilian based in Singapore’s Evolve MMA has had difficulty dealing with big punchers. With Pucci set to face heavy-handed Filipino striker Jimmy “The Silencer” Yabo (5-4), whose five victories have all come by knockout, it will be interesting to see how Pucci handles the stand-up exchanges.

Making his highly-anticipated ONE Championship debut is undefeated 24-year-old South Korean Kevin “Oldboy” Chung. Chung, who was born and raised in the United States, turned professional in 2015, and has since impressed in a series of bouts, going an undefeated 4-0.

Known as an exciting prospect, Chung prides himself on being always willing to please the crowd by constantly seeking the highlight-reel finish. He will go head-to-head with Chinese fighter Zhong Qing Ya, who is making his second ONE Championship appearance after a successful promotional debut by TKO.

Local Myanmar talent will also have a chance to showcase the national martial art of Lethwei on the global stage, with two all-Myanmar bouts on the main card. Former ONE Myanmar tournament finalists Saw Yan Paing and Saw Ba Oo will face off in a catch weight bout, while ONE Myanmar Featherweight Tournament 2015 champion Tha Pyay Nyo takes on debutante Htet Aung Oo, who is a regional gold belt champion in Lethwei.

In addition to the announced bouts, ONE Championship has also organized another Myanmar Flyweight Tournament to determine the country’s next flyweight superstar. Saw Min Min will take on Tun Lwin Moe while Ye Thway Ne battles Pat Kyaw Lin Naing in the semi-final matches. Shwe Kyaung Thar takes on Ye Yint Thway in the alternate bout.
