Thailand’s Shannon Wiratchai goes by the nickname of “OneShin,” but on Saturday, 5 August, he needed just one well-placed knee to flatten India’s Rajnder “Knockout” Singh Meena.
The highlight-reel finish came at just 0:29 of their catch weight bout at ONE: KINGS AND CONQUERORS. After the opening bell rang, Wiratchai immediately moved forward, and once the Bangkok Fight Lab product got a hold of the 31-year-old Meena, it was a matter of seconds before the beginning of the end commenced.
One body shot followed by a perfectly-timed left knee sent “Knockout” to the canvas in a crumpled heap. The referee halted the bout moments almost immediately when it was clear that Meena was down for the count.
At 28 years of age, Wiratchai is just entering his prime. His professional record improves to 8-1 (1 NC) and he is undoubtedly keeping his eye on a potential title shot at the ONE Lightweight World Championship somewhere down the line.
Meena, who took the bout on a mere week’s notice when original opponent Rob Lisita was forced to withdraw, continues to struggle, as he drops to 8-7.
