Six men armed with swords and guns rob school in Jakarta

JAKARTA: Six men equipped with swords and guns reportedly robbed a school in Meruya, West Jakarta, on Wednesday evening.

The Kembangan Police criminal unit chief, Adj. Comr. Widodo, said on Friday that the six men had injured two security officers on duty at the school and stole Rp 10 million (S$1,000) alongside several other items, including three laptops, from the school.

"We are searching for the suspects. Witnesses said that there were six of them and that they were armed with guns and swords," he told

The robbers got inside the school by climbing a wall in the back yard. They brought a ladder with them.

"They got into the school by climbing a fence in the school's back yard. They attacked the two security officers so they could steal the items and cash," he explained.

The two injured security officers have been identified as Komarudin, 35, and Syaifudin, 25.
