Taiwan says to release tax proposal to tackle rising debt

TAIPEI - Taiwan's finance ministry said on Monday it will announce a tax proposal that will re-evaluate tax paid by financial institutions.

Domestic media reported the proposal would include raising the income tax paid by financial institutions to five per cent from 2 per cent.

The measure was aimed at tackling rising debt in Taiwan.
