Thai PM to assign new jobs to deputies

Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha will assign deputy prime ministers with new jobs |during tomorrow's Cabinet, a source has said.

There has been speculation that ex-education minister ADM Narong Pipatanasai may be put in charge of social affairs. ACM Prajin Juntong, the former transport minister and economic head of the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) may take care of economic affairs related to basic infrastructure and transportation.

Newly appointed deputy PM Somkid Jatusripitak will probably be given economic affairs with a view to finance, treasury, trade and investment. Former foreign |minister General Tanasak Patimapragorn, who currently holds only a deputy PM post, may yet be put in charge of foreign affairs.

Other unchanged deputy PMs may keep their original duties, with General Prawit Wongsuwan in charge of national security and Wissanu Krea-ngam in charge of legal affairs.
