Tokyo Disney Resort to raise admission fees in April

TOKYO - The admission fees at Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea are going up in early April as the parks' operator, Oriental Land, hopes to boost profitability.

A one-day pass for adults currently costs 6,400 yen (US$73). Oriental Land is deciding whether to raise it to 6,800 yen (S$78) or 6,900 yen.

Oriental Land last raised admission prices in April 2014, in response to a consumption tax hike. Before that, the previous price hike came in April 2011.

Oriental Land is also considering price hikes for other types of tickets.

Tokyo Disney Resort expects to see 30.4 million visitors in the fiscal year through March. That would be its second-highest attendance total. In fiscal 2013, when it marked its 30th anniversary, the theme resort had a record 31.29 million park-goers.
