WATCH: Why stray dogs in Mumbai are turning blue

You've heard of grey hounds, and you might have even stumbled across the famed American pooch Old Yeller... but has anybody ever come across an Indian dyed-blue terrier before?

Bizarrely, Mumbai has suddenly become host to this new breed of pooch, after several stray dogs with bright blue fur were spotted wandering the streets of the Indian city, Tuesday.

The dogs' bizarre colour is believed to be linked to the pumping of industrial waste into the nearby Kasadi river, where the dogs reportedly swim and search for food.

The level of pollution in the river is reportedly 13 times over what is considered safe. Now that's enough to make you feel blue.
