West Bengal to develop Sagar Island

The West Bengal government is developing two beaches and has built 20 cottages on Sagar Island, which is at the confluence of the river Ganga and Bay of Bengal.

The cottages were inaugurated by chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Oct 30.

Said state tourism secretary Ajit Bardhan: "A tourist lodge with a capacity to accommodate 50 persons is under construction and will be ready in about three months."
