SINGAPORE - In a time where employees are spending increasingly shorter time in a job, employers in Asia are turning on the charm to retain good employees and attract new ones.

These companies have been voted the most attractive employers in Asia under the Business and Engineering categories, with respondents indicating their career preferences, expectations and employment-related factors.

Google takes top spot in both categories, with fresh graduates being attracted by its relaxed and creative work environment, international atmosphere and innovative products.

"Google offers great benefits and opportunities that are hard for other companies to match," said employer branding firm Universum's CEO Petter Nylander.

It is also seen as a great place for launching an engineering or IT career as it offers training, networking and future career possibilities. IBM and Microsoft follow closely behind Google in the engineering category.

Under the business category, KPMG, Procter & Gamble, Unilever and Microsoft make up the remaining top five companies.

Mr Nylander said these companies' success in attracting talent is due to them being global companies which allow Generation-Y workers to interact with friends and like-minded people from all over the world on social networks.

They also provide international perspectives and allow possibilities to work abroad.
