Bad customer service: Who's to blame?

SINGAPORE - Bad customer service in Singapore has come under the spotlight recently with at least two reports gone viral on social media in recent weeks.

Earlier this month, a Pizza Hut Singapore customer found the words 'pink fat lady' written on her pizza takeaway receipt at the Bukit Merah outlet and posted a photo of the receipt on Facebook.

Last Saturday, a KOI Cafe customer took to the social networking site to complain about an incident where she was allegedly insulted by an employee of the KOI Express outlet at Boon Lay MRT station.

We asked members of the public for their opinion on the state of customer service in Singapore.

"I think they shouldn't just judge a lady by her looks. Or maybe just describe her, like what's she is wearing instead of just judging her by her looks," said one man, referring to the incident where the Pizza Hut customer was labelled as 'fat' on her receipt.

Another passer-by interviewed by SPH Razor opinioned that there are some good customer service officers, just like how there are bad eggs out there in the customer service line.

"There are many, many types of customers. So, if you choose to be in the service line, then you have to bear with all this. There will be good comments, there will be very bad attitude customers. If you choose to be in this line, then you have to accept that this is something that is going to be on-going. So you either accept it or you don't do service line," said another lady.
