Best & worst restaurants, dishes of 2014
They came, they opened their doors, and they aimed to conquer, but not all of them succeeded.
As 2014 draws to a close, The Straits Times' food experts round up the highs and lows in the Singapore dining scene this year.
Food reviewer Wong Ah Yoke's picks for best new restaurants were divided into three categories: Fine dining, mid-priced and mass market.
ST's food editor Tan Hsueh Yun also selected the best dishes she has tried this year.
Among them is a mix of east and western items like Bakwan Kepiting, Lobster Roll, and Scrambled eggs with sea urchin and caviar.
2014 may well be the year of the lobster roll, according to Tan. This was the year when Singapore went mad for the sandwich, popular in the east coast of the United States.
But some places do it better than others.
