BlackBerry Q5 available in S'pore on Aug 2

SINGAPORE - Following the launch of its high-end BlackBerry Q10 in May this year, BlackBerry is now rolling out its mid-range BlackBerry 10 device, the BlackBerry Q5. It will be available in Singapore from the 2nd August from all three telcos in black, white, and red for $528.

Designed for students and first time workers, the BlackBerry Q5 seems positioned to take the place of the previous Curve line of devices. Similar to the Q10, the Q5 is equipped with a 3.1-inch display (720 x 720 pixels) and a 35-key physical QWERTY keyboard.

Compared to the Q10, the Q5 loses the AMOLED display, and replaces it with an IPS LCD panel. The Q5's QWERTY keyboard also sports smaller, flatter, chiclet-style keys instead of the larger keys found on the Q10 keyboard. As expected for its price range, it also uses a full glossy plastic construction. Nevertheless, build quality still looks and feels quite solid.
