Boat ride governed by safety Act

We thank Mr Tam Ah Hock for his keen interest in the Amazon River Quest boat ride at River Safari ("No river cruise for wheelchair user"; Tuesday).

As much as we would like all visitors to enjoy this attraction, the safety of visitors is of utmost importance. The boat ride is governed by the Amusement Rides Safety Act, which requires that we comply with safety regulations.

Some 85 per cent of the River Safari's animal collection is designed to be viewed along pathways that are wheelchair-friendly. Attractions such as the Giant Panda Forest and the world's largest freshwater aquarium at the Amazon Flooded Forest are accessible on foot and wheelchair.

We look forward to welcoming Mr Tam to River Safari to enjoy these attractions.
