- Partnering with EC Healthcare to create one-stop services providing health check-ups, medical examinations and treatments
- No pre-authorisation required for designated endoscopy and day surgery
HONG KONG, Jan. 31, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- AXA Hong Kong and Macau ("AXA") announced the official launch of the "AXA Designated Endoscopy and Day Surgery Centre" ("the Centre") at the Entertainment Building in Central. Following the first AXA Medical Centre unveiled at the World Trade Centre in Causeway Bay in 2022, the opening of a new day surgery centre in Hong Kong's core business district marks the continued collaboration between AXA and EC Healthcare. The partnership aims to enhance AXA's health management ecosystem, as well as providing customers with convenient one-stop services, including health check-ups, medical examinations and treatments. Moving forward, AXA and EC Healthcare will continue to explore more partnership opportunities and introduce new services to give customers access to a wider choice of treatment services.

At the opening ceremony for the AXA Designated Endoscopy and Day Surgery Centre, Sally Wan, Chief Executive Officer, AXA Greater China; Emily Li, Chief Employee Benefits & Wellness Officer, AXA Hong Kong and Macau; Eddy Tang, Founder, Chairman, Executive Director and CEO of EC Healthcare; Leslie Lu, Executive Director and Co-CEO of EC Healthcare; and the management team celebrated the extended partnership between AXA and EC Healthcare.
Sally Wan, Chief Executive Officer, AXA Greater China, said, "The official launch of the AXA Designated Endoscopy and Day Surgery Centre is the latest milestone in our partnership with EC Healthcare and reflects our combined strength in providing customers with comprehensive and quality health management services. It also affirms our commitment to life-long connections with customers. The COVID-19 pandemic saw a rise in public demand for healthcare services as customers become more conscious about health. As Hong Kong gradually reopens its border with China, we expect our two medical centres will be able to meet our customers' increasing demand for quality healthcare services. We will further deepen our collaboration with EC Healthcare and extend the partnership in response to market demand."
AXA's qualified individual and group members will be able to enjoy preferential access to the AXA Designated Endoscopy and Day Surgery Centre. For example, should AXA customers' health check-ups at an AXA Medical Centre reveal that further colorectal examinations and/or treatments are required, they will be referred on the spot to the AXA Designated Endoscopy and Day Surgery Centre for relevant endoscopic examination and/or surgery. In order to provide customers timely treatments, designated endoscopic surgeries will not require any pre-authorisation.
According to the Department of Health, colorectal cancer is one of the most common cancers[1] and ranked the second of all fatal cancers[2] in Hong Kong. As colorectal cancer results from the abnormal growth of the cells of the colon or rectum, which may turn polyps into malignant tumors, regular screening can help detect early symptoms and reduce the risk of developing cancer. The AXA Designated Endoscopy and Day Surgery Centre will not only shorten customers' waiting time, but also help them incur lower medical and post-surgical expenses than hospitals, greatly alleviating their financial burden.
The AXA Designated Endoscopy and Day Surgery Centre is equipped with a wide range of advanced endoscopy systems, including colonoscopy, oesophago-gastro-duodenoscopy (gastroscopy), cystoscopy and more. The Centre is managed by a team of full-time specialists in surgery and gastroenterology & hepatology, providing services from initial consultation and examination to surgery. It also offers one-stop post-operative care services and delivers a personalised healthcare experience beyond insurance to AXA customers.
