The two cities are working hand in hand to build business along the "Southern Corridor"
SINGAPORE, Dec. 6, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Themed "New Era, New Corridor, New Opportunity", the Investment Promotion Conference for Chengdu Modern Service Industry, organized by the Chengdu Municipal People's Government, was held in Singapore on December 4. Chengdu Municipal People's Government vice mayor Liu Xiaoliu and China Division of Enterprise Singapore director Wong Choo Sin attended and delivered speeches at the conference.
Investment Promotion Conference for Chengdu Modern Service Industry with the theme of ‘New Era, New Channels, New Opportunities’ was successfully held in Singapore.
Ms. Liu said that Singapore and Chengdu have laid a solid foundation for cooperation. Within ASEAN, Singapore is one of Chengdu's key trading partners. Several well-known companies in Singapore including CapitaLand and Yanlord Land have established a presence in Chengdu, where, in the aggregate, they have become involved in 468 investment projects, while 24 Chengdu-based companies including Haite High-Tech, New Hope Liuhe and Tongwei have invested in Singapore. In addition, the Singapore-Sichuan Hi-Tech Innovation Park, co-established by Sichuan province and Singapore, provides a platform for cooperation. A southern extension to the China-Europe Block Train connecting Chengdu and Singapore, dubbed the "Southern Corridor", creates a new fast and convenient logistics channel and expands economic and trade cooperation. At the conference, Ms. Liu also invited guests and companies in attendance to visit Chengdu, learn what the city has to offer and discover business opportunities.
At the event, a presentation on Chengdu-based projects covering five key sectors was given to attendees. The presentation was the highlight of the event that led to nearly 100 local companies choosing to attend, among them, Singapore International Personnel Exchange Center and Amber Business Consulting Co., Ltd.. Given the potential that many of the attendees immediately recognized, some of them started negotiations with their Chengdu counterparts while the event was still in session.
