24 Hotels in Hainan Joined Hands with Marriott International 'Run to Give' in Support of Yao Foundation and Sanya Social Welfare Home

SANYA, China, Sept. 25, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Marriott International in Asia Pacific announced that its 'Run to Give' charity run will take place in different locations across Asia Pacific on September 24, 2017. Debuting in 2014, the annual 'Run to Give' brings hotel associates together to organize runs in different cities to support local charities. This year, 24 hotels in Hainan with 922 associates joined efforts to raise funds of RMB 118,000 for Yao Foundation and Sanya Social Welfare Home to support education's program for underprivileged children.

The 3KM race held on Sanya bay beach with opening speech delivered by Mr. Zheng Conghui, the deputy director of Sanya Tourism Development Commission who recognised Marriott International's initiatives on taking care of associates' wellbeing and supporting the community and charity. Edmund Ko, Chairman of Marriott International Hainan Business Council gave a special thanks to all participants, volunteers and wished all a pleasant journey running on the beach with a nice sea breeze.

Started in 2014 by the legacy Starwood Hotels & Resorts Asia Pacific as Hotel Charity Run, the inaugural event saw an overwhelming response of over 20,000 runners take part in 92 locations across Asia Pacific; raising a total of close to USD 228,000.
