HANGZHOU, China, Oct. 9, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Leading global trading platform Alibaba.com, a subsidiary of Alibaba Group, reported a near 200 percent year-over-year increase in the number of buyers who participated in its 2017 "Super September" promotion launched on September 20, which has more than five million products for from 50,000 suppliers across 26 sectors.
The number of participating buyers from developed countries and regions such as Europe and the U.S. has increased by nearly 50 percent in one week while that from emerging markets, including Mexico and India, accounted for 45 percent and 30 percent of total sales volume respectively.
In terms of transactions, consumer electronics, home and garden, fashion and machinery were the most popular product categories during this year's "Super September" promotion, with the mechanical sector receiving large order volume.
In addition, the number of buyers who used the inspection service through Alibaba.com's Trade Assurance Service Purchase Contract during the 2017 "Super September" promotion increased 60 percent year-over-year. The Trade Assurance Service Purchase Contract is an online free service provided by Alibaba.com to secure orders and reduce risks associated with shipping and product-related quality disputes.
