2018 marks the fifth anniversary of China's "The Belt and Road" initiative. According to Tourism Research Center of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, countries along "The Belt and Road" received 582 million tourists in 2017, representing 44.02% of international tourists. Listings of Xiaozhu platform cover 36 countries along "The Belt and Road". Living in the exotic homes of the local people in "The Belt and Road" countries is expected to become the new trend in China's outbound travel market. Xiaozhu will ride the train of "The Belt and Road" initiative and continue its global exploration, says Chen Chi, CEO of Xiaozhu. Xiaozhu's overseas business is expected to double in 2019 according to Chen.

As the home sharing market grows, the relevant service chain supporting it is also maturing. According to data released by Xiaozhu, the demands for cleaning and photography services are soaring in 2018. There are an average of over 200,000 cleaning service orders per month online.

In 2018, Xiaozhu introduced facial recognition-enabled smart door locks, smart smoke detectors and burglar alarms to the industry. According to the report, Xiaozhu is working closely with governments to promote the adoption of smart devices in major cities across China to further improve the safety and security of the home sharing industry.
