KUALA LUMPUR: A Facebook-integrated bank deposit campaign has been launched, using the crowd-sourcing concept via social network to attract people to open a savings account.
The more people you have in your "circle", the more points you accumulate, and a chance to win a grand prize of RM500,000 in CIMB Bank's "Savings Circle" campaign.
To participate, CIMB customers with existing deposit accounts only need to click on the "Savings Circle" application on CIMB Malaysia's Facebook page (facebook.com/CIMBMalaysia) and they can join an existing circle, or start a new one and invite others to join in, and begin earning points.
The circle earns one point for every deposit of RM250 (S$100) into each individual savings account, or every cumulative RM50 spent on a CIMB Bank or CIMB Islamic debit card.
One point is also given to the circle for every new member.
A weekly bonus point will be given for every RM250 each individual circle member has in his or her account.
At the end of the campaign on March 10 next year, the circle with the most points will take home RM500,000, evenly distributed to all its members.
"Our customers today are so engaged in social media. We see immense potential in this channel," said CIMB Group deputy group CEO and Consumer Banking head Renza Viegas at the launch on Wednesday.
He assured that customers' privacy would be protected.
