Donuts Adds 21 New Top-Level Domains (TLDs) for China

Fully Licensed Portfolio Is Now Available

SEATTLE, Jan. 23, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Donuts Inc., the global leader in high-quality, new top-level Internet domains, today announced that its portfolio of licensed top-level domains for the Chinese market has expanded significantly, after having received approval by the People's Republic of China's Ministry of Internet and Information Technology (MIIT). Effective immediately, the Donuts portfolio of 27 domains licensed in China now includes:

xn--unup4y (games)

xn--vhquv (enterprises)

xn--fjq720a (entertainment)

xn--czrs0t (shop/store)

"Innovation in the Chinese economy is thriving, which is why domain investors and businesses alike are embracing new top-level domains," said Bruce Jaffe, Donuts president and chief executive officer. "We are pleased to offer registrar partners an expanded portfolio of high quality, approved new domains. With the depth and breadth of our offering, registrars have many different ways to package, merchandize and promote new domains to a variety of customer segments. In many ways the Chinese technology market is the world leader, and its embrace of these next generation top-level domains is more evidence of this."

Earlier in 2017, Donuts had six new domains licensed; these included: xn--unup4y (games), xn--vhquv (enterprises), xn--fjq720a (entertainment), xn--czrs0t (shop/store), .LTD, and .GROUP. Since then, market adoption has been robust and sustained, illustrating the pent-up demand, increasing appeal, and value for high-quality new domains. New domains enable businesses and domain investors to build, market and manage their digital identities more effectively and more consistently. New domains are being used for websites, for redirects and short links into social platforms, and for online advertising and marketing campaigns.

The total Donuts portfolio of MIIT-licensed names is now 27. Donuts was able to satisfy all of MIIT's licensing and compliance requirements for its portfolio of new top-level domains. This means that businesses of all sizes can use these highest quality domains to build their websites, or expand their online presence using new top-level domains for short links or redirects into social platforms, or for digital advertising and marketing campaigns. Donuts believes this is the single largest portfolio of new domains now available in China.

Donuts initiated its licensing efforts nearly two years ago to ensure that Chinese registrars and end users would have the widest access and use to its domains. The new domain licensing and integration process in China requires that applicants adhere to numerous administrative and technical compliance processes.
