Enjoy the New Exciting Enchanted Garden Afternoon Tea at Waldorf Astoria Beijing

Dainty delicacies inspired by the season

BEIJING, April 18, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Waldorf Astoria Beijing is located in the heart of Beijing, reflecting the culture and history of this capital city. Peacock Alley is the place where oriental charm and contemporary luxury, rich tradition and modern affluence meet, and the place to be for signature afternoon tea. The long-awaiting, themed Enchanted Garden Afternoon Tea has been launched on March 12, 2018. It is an occasion to be treasured in the springtime with a sea of blossoming flowers and here, at the Peacock Alley, Waldorf Astoria Beijing will provide an unforgettable experience with the high-quality tea and delicate pastries and savories.

Waldorf Astoria Beijing and MENG FLORA are collaborating to create a twinkling ceiling of sophisticated and life-like dried flowers for the hotel's stylish lounge of Peacock Alley. About 3,000 flowers involving babysbreath, myosotis, limonium, lavender, eucalyptus and rose are suspended from the ceiling. These flowers are strung together with thousands of natural peacock feathers to form a beautiful display. The artwork is initially designed and orchestrated by Rebecca Louise Law, a British floral installation artist. Each flower is delicately hand sewn with fine copper wire and the whole suspending artwork of flowers turns Peacock Alley into a blooming spring garden, brimming with vigour and vibe.

To perfect a sweet rendezvous, our master pastry chef at Waldorf Astoria Beijing has sublimely crafted an Enchanted Garden themed afternoon tea which is composed of the choicest, organic and seasonal ingredients in spring and summer. Guests would surely be enchanted by the sweet pick-me-up nibbles and the organic gift of the season in an ambiance of a beautiful garden.

The original Peacock Alley was the corridor connecting the Waldorf Hotel in New York and the Astoria Hotel, which was favoured by many celebrities. The Peacock Alley in Beijing reflects the rich history of this city, as well as modern expressions of city life. It will create a singular experience with all the good taste. The Enchanted Garden Afternoon Tea is served with a wide assortment of snacks, including the exotic Crouton Pan Seared Tuna with Wasabi Mayonnaise, Dacquoise Strawberries accompanied with Pistachio Nut and Dried Rose, and the refreshing Cucumber/Green Bean Radish Sandwich. The Boston Mini Lobster Roll, prepared with fresh and tender materials, only enhances the effect. The Oolong Tea Quail Egg/ Ocietra Caviar, which is specially produced for springtime, will satisfy even the pickiest dinners.

The pastries are quite a delight as well. Our masterful chef has created the Spring Berries & Mascarpone Waffle Cone and the Chocolate Brownie Popsicle, presented in a delicious and beautiful way. The Blackberry Opera Cake and the Dacquoise Strawberries/ Pistachio Nut/ Dried Rose are distinctive and especially favoured by female customers. In the lovely spring, why not try the Matcha Mousse/ Green Tea Truffle by feeling the fresh flavour from Macha and the rich taste from the chocolate, which is indeed a perfect combination. You can also enjoy the French puff with Caramel Almond and Passion Fruit Macadamia Eclair. Furthermore, the Signature Red Velvet Roll, inherited from the New York Waldorf Hotel in 1920s, but also absorbed the unique flavour of Beijing, is an extraordinary treat to the taste bud with its signature red, silky and soft texture.

Apart from the emphasis on the original flavours of food, a sense of heritage and innovation is also partly why Waldorf Astoria Beijing is always leaving the food spellbound. Scones, as the requisite in afternoon tea, is served both with original flavour and special ones garnished with seasonal leek and garlic and the specially made apricot jam and fig cream.

To match this sweet relaxing time, the special tea is accompanied with honeycomb chips. With our renowned True Waldorf Service, our luxurious and personalized service will make your every stay unforgettable. The honey is taken from a whole hive comb on site, ensuring the fresh, sweet and green delivery. Fine Roast Coffees and hot chocolate are available as well. Furthermore, we serve the Set of Fresh Fruit Tea Mocktails in Mini Patron Glass. The fresh fruit tea in light green is made from Japanese green tea, apple, cucumber and honey; the fresh fruit tea in light red is made from Earl tea, watermelon and coriander with a refreshing taste.

Why not come to the Peacock Alley, sit in front of the grand French windows and enjoy a pleasant afternoon in the warm and sunny spring? Every detail in the Enchanted Garden Afternoon Tea presents the elegance, romance and delicacy of Waldorf's tradition, while combined with fresh and creative elements. With a tasteful bite, an enjoyable sip, a piece of soft music and a pleasant conversation, you will totally indulge yourself in the afternoon teatime at Peacock Alley.
