GrabTaxi to rebrand itself as Grab; launches new app

SINGAPORE - Third-party booking app GrabTaxi announced on Thursday (Jan 28) that it will rebrand itself as Grab.

Group chief executive Anthony Tan, who made this announcement at a press conference, added that a new version of its app would also be launched in line with the rebranding exercise.

The new Grab app will feature a more personalised booking experience, automated retries if bookings are unsuccessful and "live" driver tracking.

Mr Tan said that the rebranding was in line with the company's aim to be a leading transportation provider in South-east Asia.

Mr Tan said that while Grab started out offering taxi booking services, it now provides customers with private-hire cars, limousines, bikes and even goods delivery.

"It's about making sure one brand encapsulates all the different services," he said.

Grab now handles 1.5 million bookings every day, across the 28 cities and six countries it operates in.
