With clearly-established objectives and the Group's strong commitment towards CSR, its CSR programmes integrate economic, social, and environmental considerations into the company's strategic development and operations. Jebsen has successfully established its business growth while expanding its efforts in various aspects of its CSR, which includes environment conservation, staff well-being, and philanthropy. With a strong focus upon the betterment of society, Jebsen invested HKD 3 million in CSR activities in 2016. A total of 84 philanthropic events were organised, garnering an attendance of 854 individuals in total.

Jebsen Group maintains its engagement to public health by partnering with Orbis for Project Morning Star. Now in its second edition, Project Morning Star's five-year plan spanning from 2016 to 2020 involves an investment of RMB 7.4 million to build China's first "National Model of Comprehensive Rural Eye Care Network" through a collaboration with the National Institute of Hospital Administration (NIHA). This effort is further supported by a minimum of HKD 400,000 invested annually for joint brand awareness campaigns in Hong Kong.

Apart from Project Morning Star, Jebsen's commitment to caring for the underprivileged is also reflected in its Life is Art programme. Launched in 2014 in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, and Guangzhou, this innovative programme focuses on caring for children with autism and children from migrant families, featuring the Shutterbug Club, Art Jamming Class and Djembe Drum Class as some of its major activities. Through workshops, outdoor photography experiences, DIY photo album creation, and mini photography exhibitions, the Shutterbug Club provides children with an opportunity to observe the world through a new lens and to learn about colour and beauty in different ways. Autistic children are then introduced to music and rhythm through the Djembe Drum Class, which provides them with the opportunity to perform at music concerts as well as at the Jebsen annual dinner party. The programme harnesses their creativity and increases their confidence through music. In three years, 268 children have benefited from 176 art courses with the support of 272 Jebsen volunteers through the Life is Art programme of Jebsen Group. Year 2016 marked the third year of this programme, wherein a series of art activities were carried out in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou, each aiming to enrich the children's lives through providing greater exposure to art.

Jebsen has also continued its support to education in order to cultivate the creativity, commitment, and potential of university-level students. Jebsen will donate RMB 1 million in total over 5 years, from 2015 till 2019, towards Nankai University for the second phase of the Nankai-Jebsen Education Fund, which awards outstanding students and teachers for excellent performance. On December 12, 2016, Jebsen Group was awarded the "Nankai University Outstanding Contribution to Education Award" for its commitment towards cultivating young minds. In Hong Kong, the Jebsen Educational Foundation Scholarship has supported more than 400 students over the past 20 years at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. As a dedicated and long-time supporter of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Mr Hans Michael Jebsen, Group Chairman, serves as a member of the University's Court and was awarded an Honourary Doctorate for his achievements and contributions.

Jebsen considers the well-being of its staff to be a key priority, and recognises that its employees are one of its most valuable assets. In 2016, Jebsen engaged our colleagues with its employer values that emphasises a mentality in which "success breeds success" through "communication" and "experience". In terms of external communication, the Group has posted a series of employee success stories on its Careers Website and different social media channels. At the same time, the Group also engaged the public with its employer values through public speeches given by Jebsen senior executives as well as their media interviews. Internally, the Group utilised various channels including notebooks, posters, intranet newsletters and e-mails to convey its employer values. In terms of staff development, the Group has developed a Career Pathing Framework and has continued to implement training programmes to support employees in their career development. In 2016, Jebsen invested HKD 1.975 million in staff training. Total training participation numbers reached 1,337 persons, which amounts to 9,483 training hours. Advocating positive attitudes towards work and life, the Group has organised a series of staff engagement activities to foster happier minds and healthier bodies; such as wellness seminars and exercises to guide employees to maintain their physical and mental wellness.
