SINGAPORE - The Ministry of National Development (MND) has re-appointed Mr Quek See Tian as Chairman, and appointed Mr Lee Fook Sun as Deputy Chairman of the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) board.

Six existing members were re-appointed while seven new members were appointed to the 14-member board for a 3-year term, starting April 1.

The Ministry of National Development (MND) has re-appointed Mr Quek See Tian as the Chairman of the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) Board and re-appointed six existing members.

Together with the appointment of Mr Lee Fook Sun to the post of Deputy Chairman, seven new members were also appointed to the 14-member Board which will serve a three-year term, beginning April 1, 2013.

The seven new Board members bring with them a wealth of experience and professional expertise in the academic, construction, business and legal sectors. They would be able to offer valuable perspectives and insights for the built environment sector.

The Board will play an active role in guiding BCA's strategies and programmes to develop a safe, high-quality, sustainable and friendly built environment, and to lead in transforming the built environment industry to achieve higher productivity and quality.

Commenting on his re-appointment, Mr Quek said: "Over the years, BCA has grown significantly to take on more functions to enhance the safety, quality, sustainability and friendliness of our built environment, and to raise the productivity and capabilities of our built environment sector. These are challenging times as we strive to transform and restructure the sector into one which is highly integrated and technologically advanced, and supported by a skilled and competent workforce. I look forward to working with the new Board in supporting BCA's efforts towards shaping the best built environment for Singapore. "

Stepping down

MND and BCA would like to welcome the new Board members and express deep appreciation to outgoing members for their valuable contributions, particularly Mr Lee Chuan Seng,who has served on BCA's Board for the past ten years.

Mr Lee was instrumental in furthering Singapore's green building agenda and led the industry to set up the Singapore Green Building Council where he was the Founding President. He was also actively involved in giving strategic advice in BCA's push for the industry to adopt the 3D Building Information Modelling to improve construction productivity.
