SHANGHAI, Nov. 5, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The UnionPay acceptance network in the United States is optimizing. Now, almost all the local ATMs accept UnionPay cards for cash withdrawal and more than 80% of the local merchant locations accept UnionPay credit cards. UnionPay is also extensively accepted at over 90% of the merchants in popular shopping centers and Outlets in New York Hawaii, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Orlando and Chicago.

According to the US Department of Commerce, about 3 million Chinese mainland tourists visited the US in 2016, growing by 15% year-on-year. China is also the largest exchange students source country to the US for 7 consecutive years. Chinese customers have become the major target of tourism, retailers and catering merchants in the US, while many of the local merchants accept UnionPay cards to attract Chinese tourists, Chinese students as well as the local Chinese.

Today, UnionPay-accepting merchants can be found all across the US. These merchants include department stores, brand stores, supermarkets, restaurants and hotels. It is quite convenient to pay with UnionPay cards at Macy's, Apple Stores, Best Buy and airport duty free shops. UnionPay is also accepted at many hotels (such as Hilton, Holiday Inn and Super 8), United Airlines, Hertz, Avis, Mobil and the subways in East Coast cities like New York and Boston. UnionPay cardholders can purchase tickets to tourist attractions including the Statue of Liberty and the Golden Gate Bridge.

Here are three tips for using UnionPay cards in the United States: First, it is recommended to take a UnionPay debit card and a UnionPay credit card (both card numbers start with 62). Cardholders are able to pay with UnionPay credit cards at over 80% of the local merchants; they just need to sign and no PIN is required. Cardholders are also able to pay with UnionPay debit cards at merchants with PIN pads. Second, chip magnetic composite cards are recommended. If the POS terminals of some merchants prompt "Swipe" after inserting the composite cards, cardholders can swipe the card once more to complete the payment. Third, although many of the local merchants do not display the UnionPay logo, UnionPay cards are still accepted; cardholders may just hand their cards to the cashiers to pay.

Now, UnionPay cardholders can enjoy many privileges in the US. For instance, UnionPay cardholders can get free-entry tickets to many renowned museums in New York and Chicago. The largest department store chain in the US, Macy's, has joined UnionPay International's cross-border marketing platform, U Plan. UnionPay cardholders may get exclusive e-coupons on their mobile phones and then enjoy instant discount in-store when paying with UnionPay cards.
