SYDNEY, July 3, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Investors in ASX-listed companies increasingly face an information problem: High-potential, listed companies lack detailed research from knowledgeable and experienced analysts to facilitate proper investment evaluation.
Pitt Street Research, a new, independent equities research firm, believes that its issuer-sponsored model represents a solution to this problem that will benefit investors and issuers alike.
Pitt Street Research grew from recent work by founders Marc Kennis and Stuart Roberts developing issuer-sponsored research in Australia. Issuer sponsorship, where companies pay for their coverage, has flourished overseas since 2003 and typically increases trading liquidity of sponsor companies.
Pitt Street Research's founders are analysts by background with a passion for emerging companies. Marc began covering Technology, Media, and Telecoms in Europe in the 1990s. Stuart pioneered research on ASX's Life Sciences sector in the early 2000s.
In 2016 both analysts started issuer-sponsored research practices in their respective sectors - Marc with TMT Analytics and Stuart with NDF Research. Both firms were well received by investors and issuing companies alike.
Typical research initiation reports can run up to 30 pages and often represent the first genuine 'deep dive' by any analyst. The research is freely distributed to thousands of investors.
By mid-2018 their combined coverage included 25 companies. The success of TMT Analytics and NDF Research suggests Australia is ripe for high quality, issuer-sponsored research across all investment sectors. It was therefore an easy decision for Marc and Stuart to join forces to extend the model to the rest of the ASX via Pitt Street Research.
We look forward to making the ASX an even better informed and more efficient market.
